When determining the quality of fit a home offers long-term, families need to keep an eye on bedroom size.

While they may seemingly do the job in the near-term, it’s comforting to know, if there’s no need to move for several years or longer, the children of the family have spaces they can grow into.
Homebuyers get that in the Pineview, by NuVista Homes. This 2,040-square-foot, front-drive single-family model is displayed in Hotchkiss. This is the one of the first show homes displayed in the new southeast Calgary community, which launched earlier in 2022.
The show home is displayed with a warm and inviting Craftsman architectural elevation.
Its children’s bedrooms are positioned side by side and have windows that overlook the front yard. The larger of the two is 11 feet four inches by 12 feet 11 inches, and the other is 11 feet four inches by 10 feet and a half inch, in one section, and 12 feet five inches in another.
Both dimensions support a child’s needs as they get older and limit the chance of clutter.
A central bonus room splits the second level into wings, providing a buffer between the secondary bedrooms and the master, which is along the rear-facing wall.
Like the children’s rooms, the heads of the household get a well-sized sleep space. The bright 12-foot six-inch by 15-foot three-inch master features a large walk-in closet accessed through its ensuite.
This closet can function as a dressing room, supporting the concept of a single, fluid space in which to get ready for one’s day. To the other person in the relationship, this is beneficial, if they want to sleep later.
Getting ready together is possible, too. There’s a vanity with two sinks beneath a full-width mirror. The ensuite also boasts a soaker tub and glass-encased shower with full-height tile.
The second floor also includes a conveniently placed laundry room with front-load washer and dryer.
Another way this home serves as a long-term fit is that it ticks the boxes of what a family needs. Just off the foyer is a seven foot 11 inch by 10 foot one inch flex room.
For people who work remotely, this is an ideal space in which to tuck away. The children of the family may also use this room for studying or polishing off a homework project. Families with young children may use it as a spot to store toys and books.
The back stretch of the main level is conducive to entertaining. It combines a large great room and dining area with a centrally located L-shaped kitchen in an open-concept design.
In the kitchen island, the island has a sink and eating bar that seats at least three people with plenty of room around it. This supports the ability to both gather and circulate.
The kitchen is demonstrated with a chimney-style hood fan, wall oven and fridge with french doors. There’s also a walk-through pantry that connects to the mudroom, which provides direct access to the garage.
The great room, which featuring an elegant elongated fireplace, and dining area are side by side and back on to a window and glass door, respectively, that provide views of the backyard.
